A raw crystal is usually less perfect in its formation, less attractive in human eye and has lower esthetic value. Some people might appreciate its originality while others might not. However, this does not mean that with its physical originality and less workmanship done, it holds higher vibration or its healing properties are more original and less tainted.
Crystals are polished, lacquered or shaped merely to allow higher durability and to give physical protection for easy handling. Some raw crystals are brittle (e.g. Stibnite) while others contain toxin (e.g. Malachite) in its raw formation. Having physical workmanship on crystals does not draw away or transform the crystal’s properties to any way artificial. But of course, these crystals are usually priced higher due to its esthetic value. Crystals of certain rarity, hardness, durability, beauty and brilliance are usually selected and cut into gem quality stones. Gems are cut into brilliant designs i.e. baguette, step cut, cabochon, brilliant, marquise to bring out its beauty.
(Chemical workmanship on crystals such as that which are done to lab cultivated Ruby, Sapphire and other gemstones do however compromise the originality of the healing properties. Depending on the originality of the seed used, the healing properties are compromised)
Shaped crystals can be divided into 2 main categories namely for esthetic purposes and for healing works. Esthetic refers to the sculptures or any form for display purposes (e.g. Horse Sculpture shaped using Jade). Although it is mainly shaped for display purposes, crystal does its healing work in that space be it the person sense it or not. Thus, clearing and recharging of crystal on a periodical basis is encouraged.
Crystals shaped specifically for healing works are usually in the forms of wands, pyramids, massage bars and etc.
Can these shaped crystals be used for esthetic or healing work interchangeably? Yes. It does not matter what physical formation or dimension it is, the healing properties are not compromised.
